Aegyo (애교) is the art of being adorable on purpose — a cute voice, exaggerated cute facial expressions, little hand hearts, and sweet gestures used to charm someone or lighten the mood. It’s a normal part of Korean social and dating culture, not just K-pop.
In K-pop, idols are often asked to “do aegyo” on variety shows or at fan events — saying a phrase in the cutest possible way, doing a finger heart, or a signature cute pose. Some idols love it; others are famously bad at it, which fans find even more endearing.
