Your birth details

⭐ With your exact birth time and place, you’ll get your Moon, Rising sign and houses. Without a time, only Sun and planet signs are calculated.

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart — or natal chart — is a map of the sky at the precise time and place you were born. It records where the Sun, Moon and every planet sat among the twelve zodiac signs, and slices the sky into twelve houses, each governing an area of life. Where a Sun-sign horoscope reads just one point, a full birth chart reads the whole sky at once — which is why it feels so much more personal. Two people born on the same day can have completely different Moon and Rising signs.

Your Big Three: Sun, Moon & Rising

  • ☀️Sun — your core identity, ego and life force. The “you” at your center.
  • 🌙Moon — your inner emotional world, instincts and what makes you feel safe.
  • 🌅Rising (Ascendant) — the mask you wear: your first impression and how you meet the world.

Together these three are the fastest way to understand someone. Your Sun and Moon need only your birth date and time; your Rising sign needs your exact birth time and place because it changes every couple of hours.

Planets, houses & aspects

Beyond the Big Three, each planet colors a part of you: Mercury your mind and speech, Venus your love and taste, Mars your drive, Jupiter your luck and growth, Saturn your lessons and discipline. The twelve houses say where in life that energy shows up — from self and money to relationships and career. Aspects are the angles between planets — conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition — describing how the different parts of you cooperate or create tension.

Why an exact birth time matters

The Sun moves about one degree a day, so your Sun sign is stable. But the Moon changes sign every two-and-a-half days, and the Rising sign shifts every two hours as the Earth turns. That’s why your birth time and place unlock the most personal parts of your chart. Don’t know your time? You’ll still get accurate Sun and planet signs — this calculator simply flags the parts that need a time.

Birth Chart FAQ

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart (also called a natal chart) is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born. It maps where the Sun, Moon and every planet sat among the twelve zodiac signs, and divides the sky into twelve houses — areas of life. Reading those positions together gives a far richer picture of your personality than your Sun sign alone.

What is the Big Three (Sun, Moon, Rising)?

Your Big Three are the three most important points in your chart. Your Sun sign is your core identity — who you are at your center. Your Moon sign is your inner emotional world and what makes you feel safe. Your Rising sign (Ascendant) is the mask you wear — the first impression you give and how you instinctively approach the world.

Do I need my exact birth time?

For your Sun and planet signs, no — your birth date alone is enough. But your Moon sign, Rising sign and house placements depend on your exact birth time and place, because they change quickly throughout the day. If you don’t know your time, this calculator still gives you accurate Sun and planet signs and marks the time-sensitive parts.

How is this birth chart calculated?

It uses a real astronomical ephemeris engine (the same kind used for serious astronomy software) to compute the true position of the Sun, Moon and planets for your birth moment, plus your Ascendant from sidereal time. Everything runs privately in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Whole Sign houses are used.

What is a Rising sign or Ascendant?

Your Rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born. It changes roughly every two hours, which is why your exact birth time matters. It shapes your appearance, your first impression, and the lens through which you meet the world.

What are houses and aspects?

The twelve houses are areas of life — self, money, relationships, career and so on. A planet’s house shows where its energy plays out. Aspects are the angles planets make to each other (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition); they describe how the parts of your personality cooperate or create tension.

Is a birth chart reading accurate?

The astronomical positions are precise. The interpretations are a tool for self-reflection and entertainment, not prediction or professional advice. Many people find their Big Three uncannily relatable — but you are always more than your chart.

For self-understanding and entertainment. Not a substitute for professional advice.
